If anyone is unwilling to descend into himself, because this is too painful, he will remain superficial in his writing.

For the writer to write what truly counts he’ll need to grab that which he fears deep within him, pull it out, and stare at it – no matter how freightened he is.

If he does not do this then all we have on the paper are meer words, nothing transcedant, nothing life-changing, nothing… yes, in all sense, we have nothing.

If you’re unwilling to descend into yourself and write about what’s truly causing you pain, don’t write. You’re just wasting everyone’s time.
