My dear,

It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends.

And most of the time it’s harder to stand up to your friends. For the enemy is easy to fight with, they are counter to you – and always have been. But your friends… you have history with your friends, you’ve shared joy and laughter, and you don’t want to ruin the continuation of that for want of standing your ground now.

But trust me, a friendship built on one friend losing while the other gains is not a friendship that will last. At some point the brittle relationship that it is will snap and reveal itself for what it truly is, a farce.

It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends.

All in all, it takes a great deal of bravery to stand up for ourselves.

Falsely yours,
Professor Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore
