My dear,

Publicity is like poison; it doesn’t hurt unless you swallow it.

It doesn’t matter unless you take it seriously. It doesn’t madden unless you believe it. And it doesn’t affect you in anyway, unless you let it.

In a way, publicity is a drug, a poison, that replicates the mirror. It temps you with visions of yourself, but at the same time skews your true light, never showing you how you truly look. If you believe publicity’s image of you, you are doomed.

Shatter the lying mirrors of publicity, better yet – don’t look at them in the first place. Don’t swallow them.

Falsely yours,
Joseph Vincent “Joe” Paterno
