My dear,

Nothing is so necessary for a young man as the company of intelligent women.

Sure, less intelligent women will be much easier to lead to the bedroom, and much easier to leave once the activities of the bedroom are finished; but intelligent women will anger him, argue with him, correct him when he doesn’t want to be corrected, refuse to stand anywhere less than on par with him, and not only teach him how to conversate but how to love, not just how to fornicate – and this is all necessary, for this is what makes that young man into a good man.

Loose women will of course suffice if intelligent women are nowhere to be found.

Falsely yours,
Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy
