My dear,

If you really think about it we only live in the present. Not in the past, nor the future, but the present. You think about the past during the present, and you dream about the future during the present. All action and life philosophically only exist in the present.

So where does that leave future goals?

The value of a future goal is the present change it fosters.

Future goals are not meant to be pretty ‘look-at-me’ milestones that live in the future. They are destinations to reach. And the value of all destinations with directions is where you are now and where you’re going to next.

So, where are you now? Where are you going to? And are you heading there properly?

Falsely yours,
David Allen
