Take The First Step In Faith. You Dont Have To See The Whole Staircase, Just Take The First Step.

My dear,

Everything worth doing will, to you (and to us all), feel like an infinitely slow walk in infinitely immense darkness.

You won’t know where you’re going, how you’re going there, and whether or not you’re actually on the right path. And sometimes it’s all an uphill walk into darkness, as if you’re climbing a staircase.

So what do you do?

Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.

I won’t guarantee that you’ll know what to do, or be able to see farther into the dark void ahead of you, but I do promise that you’ll be a whole lot less scared of the other steps.

And remember, you will not reach anything if you remain still.

Take the first step.

Falsely yours,
Martin Luther King, Jr.
