My dear,

Failure’s hard, but success is far more dangerous. If you’re successful at the wrong thing, the mix of praise and money and opportunity can lock you in forever.

In order to be happy with your life, and the decisions in them you’ve got to think about more than just your present situation – you’ve got to think about your future too.

What I do is I step back, evaluate myself, my life and spiritual goals without taking into account anything from the outside world. And once done, I compare my current success with what’s written down to see if it aligns. And if it does I continue down the path. If it doesn’t I stop immediately, and start from scratch.

Starting from scratch is a pretty hard thing to do, but it’s far easier than walking down a path you don’t like only to find out down the road that you’re too far gone and can’t turn around. That’s usually where people start hating their life. And I don’t plan to be one of those people who does. I plan to love my life, no matter how hard the road to get there might be.

Falsely yours,
Po Bronson
