My dear,
Does it not confuse you that those who believe in a higher being are the ones who commit (according to them) the most horrible of sin, murder? In fact the Catholic church itself has killed thousands if not millions in the name of their ‘rightful cause’, just look upon the Crusades.
To me it seems as if the beings who commit these horrors justify them with their belief in God (or Allah). And those who follow gladly committed these horrors alongside them, for after-all, they believe in God too.
I guess it stands that
If we believe absurdities, we shall commit atrocities.
