My dear,
Art takes that which we are indifferent about, and shines it in such a way that we stop in our tracks, and stand in awe at the pure simplicity of it.
“How could I not have seen such beauty before?! It was there all along I know, but how could I not see it for what it truly was until now?!” – This is what we tell ourselves having seen great art.
It is life. It is a focus. And it is replacement.
Art is always the replacement of indifference by attention.
Falsely yours,
Guy Mattison Davenport
